If you have feathers laying all over it is probably molt, They can look pretty ragged when going through it.

Although with finding one dead today I would sure keep a close eye on the ones you have left. Could a predator have gotten in with her?

No, no predator. They are in a really secure area at night and nothing got in. I'm baffled. She was so healthy looking last night when I checked on them. I'll do more investigating later today.

Look for mites or lice but with swimming water it is unlikely but external parasites can cause anemia and death. Very sorry for your loss. How old was this one who died.
