So I got three chicks about 4 mo ago. Ones already crowing only about four or five times in the morning as soon as we let him out. Another one is bigger then the rest and kinda looks like streamers on top of his head. The other one the buff was the smallest chick and still the smallest but fights with everyone. And looks like streamers also. Then I got three more black ones. There maybe only 3 months old might be to young. But one has more of a puff and other gas more of a Mohawk. And the other is a smooth and have no idea but hangs out with my old buff a lot. Any ideas or help would be great I can’t have roosters in my neighborhood. Thanks

Buff could be a hen but the two whites/paints look like boys as the combs are larger and reddish. The blacks do t have much of a comb but that could develop in another month or so, so at this point look female so far.

At 4 months, they are pretty much full grown. I think the white and buff and paint are cockerels based on stance/streamers. The blacks could go either way. The one with regular feathers is a mix somewhere back in its ancestry.

If you do end up getting a lot of cockerels, it is a good time to advertise if you wish to rehome them. Craigslist is good, and asking at your local feed store could help, too. And the regional boards in here are a good place to advertise, too. Good luck.

The crossbeak is absolutely male in the thumbnail on the bottom.

I can not see the back of the head of the one next to it to check for streamers. It stands like a pullet but the comb is a bit large. How old is that one? Perhaps it's close to lay.

The last black one appears to be a pullet at this time but give it a bit longer to be sure since it's younger. 12 weeks right?

The smooth I can't tell if it's got saddle feathers coming in it almost looks in the last photo like it may. Also the smooth is not pure silkie as silkie feathers breed true it must have another breed in it's past genetics. It's comb is rather small.

The "white" one is the one photographed with the cross beak correct? I think I might be seeing coarser hackle feathers in the first photos of it. Also I'm not sure it's white. It seems to have a slight tint to it in the photos also possibly some darker flecks. I'm changing my guess on that one to boy.

The buff is also male.

The older “whitish” one is a little older then 4mo. It’s the biggest one. It looks like it might have some streamers. The grey cross beak cockatiel for sure he’s crowing. Other black ones are about 12 weeks.
