think this would make a good bator???

OMG! Thats awesome!! Youre close to Athens? I actually live in Hull Ga which is a hair bit east of Athens. I live like right down the road from Athens tech. How much would you charge? I have been looking all OVER for a good heating element and thermostat on the cheap. I didn't want to use the popular water heater one as I'm scared I wont be able to get the right temps. Reading about the back needing to touch metal and all that good jazz. That would be GREAT though if you can help me out just let me know how much.

Hull Ga might be 100miles or so.
A lot would depend on the size of the cabinet and how many trays you would be needing. I would guesstimate around $100ish for trays and Thermostat and motor controller. Motor would have to be sized according to number and size of trays. The heater and Fan would also need to be sized to fit the cabinet. Have your bought the cabinet yet? If so, measure the inside width, height, and depth. Also measure the size of the door openings. Measurements need to be precise. I am suspecting that that cabinet would hold a bunch of eggs, it might be possible to use one side for a incubator and the other side for a hatcher. Lots of possibilities with that cabinet. Wouldnt mind haveing it myself. If you do buy it, pm me with the measurements and we'll see what we can do to make it easy and affordable to convert for you.

oh, don't be scared, it's not that hard to get the water thermo to work accurately. You should read my adventures with my homemadeabator! lol anyway it is a simple old pop cooler with electric elements added, I had to do a bit of manipulation and adjusting but it hardly fluctuates at all. I relied heavily on jus1jack's page on thermostat modification and MissPrissy's. I also have two pint jars of water in there as well. One thing I've noticed about the bator is that if the inside temp*(house not bator) is messed with (ie kids turning the thermostat by the stove up to 75) the bator will go up too. So there is a warning taped to the thermostat to keep the kids from messing with it.
