My shaver/leghorn girls are having some nice chicks from my little mystery rooster, but I've been thinking a bit about crossing them with something specific. They're shaver/white leghorns, so they produce at least an egg a day each, jumbo white egg, and they're big, friendly and really tough in the cold weather up here, also not broody. I had someone suggest that crossing them with an ISA Brown would be a good idea, but I don't know much about this, the genetics part, so I came here for opinions! Would an ISA Brown crossed with a shaver/white leghorn (so a bigger white leghorn, basically, it's not listed as a real "type" of chicken on BYC, so just in case you didn't know lol) make good chicks, theoretically? Can you think of something else that would cross better with my girls? I totally want to search for the right rooster if there's a cross between two that could make a really interesting bird.
