I now have an empty aquarium and was thinking of getting a pair of cichlids, maybe african. I had an oscar until about two years ago and I kind of miss it, but I want to try the more colorful fish out this time. So, anyone have any experience with any cichlids? How hard is it to care for them? Is there a begginers cichlid you would suggest? Do they have long lives if the conditions are right?

Ive raised Convict Chiclids for 7 years, breed them and sold them. Ive had many differnt kinds through thr years but i think these are the hardyest, easyest ones to care for. very easy to breed. can with stand alot. breed very easy. all you need is a male and female. males are larger than females. females have orange on there bellys. pepples for the bottum of the tank, some rocks and caves. they lay there eggs on the side of rocks or in the caves. they will dig a little whole clearing all pebbles away when about to lay. both parents care for the young. these fish can eat goldfish flakes or tropical fish flakes. if u dont want them to breed id say get females because males fight. depending on the size of the tank, u can keep 3- 6 togeather in a 20 gallon tank. they dnt get very big. can be agressive. i wouldnt pair them with other fish. come in white also. any questions just ask
