thinking about getting geese...

We have chickens and ducks, all less than 6 weeks old. After a large enough run and probably 2 houses are built I was thinking about adding a couple geese. The reason being, I know there is a fox, coons and possum on our property. Wouldnt geese help at least warn of predators? The run and coops will be very secure but I thought geese might help. Also, would they all get along together? I have had chickens & ducks several years ago but never geese. What do you think?

A full grown African gander (the pure bred kind, not the feed store ones) scare off a fox. Africans aren't too mean, but we had one gander who tried to bite me every chance he got. Egyptian geese are said to be the meanest (and smallest) goose.

Our old geese did chase our chickens (bantam cochins) once or twice. I wouldn't put them together, but that is me.

Thanks for the advice. We did get 6 bantams. I guess I will have to just make sure their run and house are very secure.
