lol i would suggest getting pullets i got straight run from a hatchery becouse like you i just wanted a broody hen.....drove 8hrs back and forth to pick them up waited for 8months and they all started crowing

Actually it turns out that the person from craigslist wanted all my BIG chicks so now I just have silkies. I think I'll wait till there a month old and sell them then - they are so tiny and attached to each other that I think they can stay together a while.
I am also thinking of hatching some silkie eggs! My hubby just finished the homemade incubator.
We have a silkie mix cockerel, named Liberace. He is THE BEST. He's the reason I want some silkies . . . so I can make more Liberaces! He lets me pick him up and hold him anytime and he is not at all rough with his lady friends (unlike the LF cockerels that are now separated).
Yay! If you get some eggs we should do a hatch-a-long. I am hoping to get some eggs next week.
