It's been almost a year since I've hatched any chickies! And - get this - I've NEVER hatched any from my own chickens. Soooo I think it's time, but I think I need some enabling.

I have two incubators (a hovabator and a brinsea advance ex), but honestly I don't quite trust my brinsea, I've attempted two hatches out of it, and only one was slightly successful (5/20 hatched), something's funny with the humidity gauge. :/ I don't know how to fix it.
But the issues with using my trusty HovaBator is it's kind of big and bulky, and I have to take time to turn the eggs, which I guess I can deal with, but still.

    What do you think??
Anyone want to join me? :) Set date on February 8th?

    I'l join you. :)

I'm setting the 7th for a class project. And my eggs are always late, so yeah~ the 7th is a Tuesday, afull moon! I made a forum at like 11:00 last night about a leap day hatch. Bo one replied and I got 4 views... from myself, lol! I'll be sure to post lotsa pictures as well~

Here's a tip for your bators: don't put any water in. If you do, put just a bit to keep it about 25-35% humidity. That's what I was told and have had great success... well, I haven't been using it long but it's worked great so far~ use your styrafoam hovabator, they're the best! But I've also heard Brinsea's wrking great too...

What kinds of chickens are your ladies? You should give 'em a chance~ coz ya just never know what will happen.

And get this... I've never hatched any eggs but my own and my grandma's! No one near me has any chickens NOT related to mine somewhere down the lines. :(

The incubator I'm planning on using is a styrafoam homemade that's so far awesome with the last 3 days of hatching~! I'm using it right now for my late Grounghog's day hatch so I"l have to wait until Tuesday.. quiiite posibly Wednesday.

I apologize if this post is a bit... scatered, but I was trying to answere your questions and ask a few of my own. Haha, so I'm hatching with you, if you don't mind~ no one joined me, so you're the next best thing. Must feed the monster!(addiction of hatching)

I might join you with a broody, does that count? But since they're bantam eggs, I'd set them on 11th instead.

I plan on a leap day hatch. I built and set the bator two days ago to make sure the temp and humidity would be ideal.
