Thinking about winter....ideas please?

tarp or the heavy clear plastic would work- use zip ties for the plastic after you reinforce the holes with ducktape. I'd say use the tarp and get a gromment kit (really cheap!) and do that- then you can use zip ties or wire to attach it. Cut your tarp up into the sizes you need, hammer in your grommets and you're ready to go. Don't do the plexi unless you want to spend a TON of money

and, if you by chance DO want to spend a ton of money, you can come on over to my house and I'll give you a shopping list

One more "tarp" idea that I have found works great for smaller areas and lets in more light than the rolls of plastic - shower curtain liners. The liners are crystal clear and heavy duty and hold up well to the elements. More expensive than a roll of plastic to be sure, but for a smaller window area or one end of a smaller run, it works well for winterizing.

I don't know the exact name for it but I use to see on job sites a plastic that had fiber cords running through it. Super tough and strong enough to stand on with it suspended. It was used for covering window in the buildings during winter. Get up 8 or 10 floors, what's calm on the ground is a hurricane wind up there.

You're welcome ... but you may want to search for an easier/alternative way to attach the plexiglass. Our "turning finger nails" enable us to have no holes. Then in Spring we turn the nail and the plexiglass has nothing holding it so it pops out. Otherwise drill very slowly, and very softly - if you press hard or drill fast it could crack.
