Hello Goose people,
At the moment I'm a chicken person, but I miss having geese and can see that someday my chicken coop might become a goose coop or we will add another. Anyway, my past history with waterfowl is with wild nesting Canada geese and Mallards on a small river, and later on a different property a flock of domestic geese on our pond. Our new and final property ( I hope to retire to it) has a sloping field with a few trees down to a stream, wooded on the far side and which merges with a swampy spring at the edge of our property. Adjacent properties include a swampy wooded pond, and an open pond, (across the road, around the corner, and guarded by some grumpy mules). I guess my question for you all is could I expect my geese to stay content with their stream and not light out for the neighbor's ponds if they were raised here from goslings? Are some breeds less likely to wander?
