Congratulations!!! We have hounds and would never have any other kind of dog. Our current hounds "Jabber" and "Violet" are our babies. Jabber is 10 and Violet is 5, we lost our 8 year old Dahlia almost 2 years ago now
. They are the sweetest dogs ever! Not only are they couch potatoes but they are also major snugglers, they think they are cats I swear.
A couple words of advice.
BRUSH THEIR TEETH! They need it, they will totally let you do it, and their breath will be much better.
Get rid of anything within their extended reach that they could swallow especially strings, yarns etc. They can reach quite high as you may have already found out.
ALWAYS have them leashed. If you haven't brought him somewhere to watch him run yet, you will be astounded at how fast he can run. Once our Dahlia slipped out the front door when friends stopped by and she was 9 miles away in 35 minutes, wow!
Make sure your vet knows about greyhounds, they have several different physical standards that can confuse some vets into thinking they are sick, but may be perfectly
healthy.
Feel free to PM me anytime, I love anything to do with hounds. They are the best, you will love him so much!!!
