Thinking of aquiring ducks? Please advise.....

ducks are far more hardier than chickens are and lay alot better too. I have campbell ducks and recommend them to anyone for the best egg production. Pekin ducks are very good too, just since they are white i don't like to see muddy feathers.

They outlay many chickens, my ducks lay bigger eggs, and more than my egg-laying breeds of chickens do. they lay over 300 eggs a year. the only time my ducks won't lay is if we have alot of snow or if they are stressed from being moved to a new pen. so pretty much lay year round. with exception of some wild breeds like muscovies, and mallards who only lay seasonaly.

i give mine a kiddie pool to swim in and drink out of. I change the water when it gets muddy and sludge in the bottom.

I feed mine 21% layer pellets, the same thing i give my chickens. I also give my ducks whole corn, wheat, fresh grass daily, and table scraps, and fruits and veggies. treats give the eggs a dark ornage look to them.

i sell my hatching duck eggs for $12 a dozen, and have no problem selling them. same price for eating eggs and can't keep them, i've seen some people sell a egg for $2 a piece

hope this helps!!!
