Currently I live in an apartment on campus where no animals are allowed. They supposedly HAVE rules against pets, but my room mates and I have been able to get away with having mice because we are all science majors. The RAs really don't care as long as the animals are well cared for.
Anyways, my one room mate is taking the mice with her next year to a different college and we will be left with just our fishtanks. Something needs to fill in the empty spot we will have left behind by the mice! At home I have two pairs of ring neck doves so I came up with the idea of bringing a pair with me to school.
I plan on finding a nice large cockatiel cage (They will have plenty of free flight time as they are already quite tame). The great thing about this arrangement is that if we DO get in trouble, I will be able to bring them back home and put them back in their hutch. Its not like we would have to give an animal up (Which is what I wanted to avoid at all costs!)
I am very excited and hoping maybe my doves will breed here at school for me. That would be a lot of fun because at home I don't get much interaction with the babies since the doves are at the barn.
