Thinking of getting a gerbil

Okay, thanks. would I be able to keep them/it on a diet of corn, wheat, and oats,like I did my mice, or would i have to give them a commercial brand food?

They love lots of grains and pellets. I feed mine commerical food but they always leave the smaller seeds and corn pieces and I end up tossing those. They love small bits of fruits and veggies too!

I’ve heard that gerbils shriek a lot. I had a hamster I really liked once, though.
