Thinking of Getting Appenzeller Spitzhaubens

Hi, I'm thinking of getting Appenzeller Spitzhaubens and was wondering if anyone could give me some first information on them. I've done a lot of reading on them, but I was hoping that some people who actually have them could answer some of my questions. First, what is their temperament are they friendly or skittish? Are they nasty to other chickens? What other chicken breeds can you keep your Spitzhaubens with? Do they actually lay well? and are they noisy? Thank You!!

I've raised them for several years. They tend to be flighty. Dont expect them to be lap chickens or tolerate being picked up unless they've been trained from an early age. They tend to be lower in the pecking order if kept with larger breeds. They can hold their own but rarely challenge more dominant birds. They will mix with any breed as long as they have enough space. They lay fairly well, medium white eggs, 200+ a year. They actually seem to be quieter than most breeds.

I have 8. They are Hoover hatchery quality which wasn’t really that bad as far as quality. They are only 23weeks so I expect another molt before seeing what they will really look like. However, they are all over the place as far as personalities and temperament. Half were outgoing and more dominant and half were very flighty. They calmed down once they reached the point of lay but still don’t like to be held. One is fearless and an avid climber. She was always the first to greet me and try to explore out of the coop since pretty young and that has not changed one bit. She is the one with the most correct forward comb so maybe she has more true appenzeller in her. She somehow flew up on our shed roof that is about level with the house gutters. None of my others have climbed anything yet though. I had them out with my older girls today who are normally mean to all new chickens and they all got along just fine and left each other alone. I think they both were just happy to be out since it doesn’t happen often anymore with hawks around.
