Yes, one of my best friends in the world is just like that.

I was referring to the less educated.

... Seriously?? Wow. So, you went from referring to a certain demographic population as "hicks" to, now, "ignorant."
But gosh darn them're some awful big words for us simple folk to understand!!!!

I would guess our friends and neighbors here would or could be considered hicks - but they are the best people, so kind and helpful to us stupid city folk who decided to move out here...

they gave us hay when we didn't know where the heck to get it, they always invite us out to their place or the pub when there's something going on.

I strive to be a country bumpkin! or hick or heck a redneck.

I don't even understand the terms fully, (didn't grow up in the USA) I normally try decipher the persons tone when saying the words, but you can't do that here.

WILD.. the words bumpkin, hick and sometimes redneck are usually words meant to insult people that dont meet the name callers level of higer superiority(in their own heads, that is)..
so yeah..they arent nice names to call people usually. And yeah, like you..i'll also strive to be a hick anyday...

How could this NOT offend anyone??? I made my opinions pretty clear on the SS forum since you posted the exact same thing there.

Look for property in Ky or TN... Property taxes are pretty reasonable our properties tax value is 95000.00 and our taxes are 667.00. In TN it is about the same but there isn't any state tax unless they started that after we moved. Just look in Kentucky homes and land... We got our house as a foreclosure... Had to replace a lot because the old owners took everything out, HVAC units, Water heater, appliances, light fixtures etc... but the tax value at the time we found it was 106,000.00 and we gave 74,000.00 for the property(house and 1.44 ac). Now in 4 yrs our property value has gone up 20,000.00 and will continue to climb as there are a lot of new homes going in around us. I used to know of a large log house right at the top of mountain with 50 acres surrounding it. It ran off of solar panels as it was in the middle of nowhere, had to have a truck or 4 wheel drive otherwise have someone grade the long driveway. They were asking 98,000.00 for it all... We never went to see it but it was listed for about 2-3 yrs FSBO.

Hummm- I personally -like- FL, but 250ish years of family history -might- have something to do with it...

Have you considered a dart board and a map?

Actually you could look up whatever your top three 'requirements' are and shade in a large map, where ever all three are colored in -move there.

Are you serious?? Both of you are going to use hateful, cliche labels in reference to a crowd that probably makes up a good 80% of the folks on here?? I'll have you know those "hicks" you are referring to probably know more about making a good, honest living off the land than I'm sure you ever will. WE are good, hard-working folks, who may talk a little funny but be darned if any of our neighbors go hungry or without. But what do I know, I'm just a hick.

I'd like to know just who exactly she classifies as a hick!! I'd probably qualify since I've lived on a farm my entire life.

Anyone who doesn't think just like her...The rest of us are just a bunch of ignorant, uneducated, backwater rubes, who haven't seen the light.
Amazing, that I can even come up with that many adjectives.
