Welcome to BYC. I'm in Islip.I googled town rules for poultry and found with the size of my yard I could keep approximately 253 chx in a contained backyard. I only have 5 for now. Babylon (outside the village )should be similar. No roos.I'm trading my handsome "Golden Comet" back to my friend \enthusiast\breeder on the north shore for a girl. He's OK as he promised me 5 hens,and wants to master reliable sexing. By the way,I'm a carpenter, and built my coop to use some spare,"free" lumber I had. The rest was not free. O well. I'd be glad to share any ideas or advice. Be sure to visit Agway in Riverhead.
