Thinking of Speckled Sussex as my first chickens

My Speckled Sussex, Bronwyn, is not only beautiful, she is The Most Helpful Chicken Ever. No matter what I'm doing outside, Bronwyn is right there beside me -- she likes to "help" me when I'm trying to plant veggies or flowers, climb into the poop bucket when I'm trying to clean coops, scratch under stepping stones I'm trying to clean up and reinstall.

In other words, I'm never lonely when Bronwyn is around.

Congrats on joining BYC and, seriously, I adore Bronwyn! Get Speckled Sussexes!

Speckled Sussex were also my first breed of chicken, and I can’t tell you just how glad I am for having chosen them. They are very docile, friendly, curious, and overall great birds. My current SS is my best friend, the friendliest chicken I know, and from my original flock four years ago.

I really think that the SS is a great breed for any beginner and you are definitely making the right choice 😉☺️
