I live in southwest Louisiana, in the country with forest around us. This is my first time raising chickens. They were 2 yrs old. Something just started killing them a few months ago. I started out with 7 now I only have 4 left. This predator only kills one at a time. We only see feathers, no body parts or blood. My other chickens are safe and unharmed so its not greedy at the time of the kill. It always goes ontop of my run. It finds a weak small hole in my tarp material I have for shade and gets through it. Granted its only a few inches. Then it takes my medium sized hen with it. My good eggers are gone now. What do you think could do this at night?? My husband thinks a bobcat.

:welcome Sorry for the circumstances. A bobcat, raccoon, or even a fox might be the predator. Can you close/lock your coop in the evening?

:welcome :frowCould be most any predator. If you have a game camera put it up and then you will know what is lurking and probably the killer. I love my cameras. From my experience most predators do roam at night especially in the south with the hot days. Here they mostly come out at night. I see predators most nights on at least one of my cameras. I don't bother them unless they go after my birds but I do have electric wires around my coops and pens and nothing mess with the hot wires. Good luck...
