Third Coop & Run

In the Brooder
3rd Coop+Run. Looking forward to Fall. Chicks are growing fast. I’m back in the chicken game after a 5 year break. Repurposed the garage door for the Run entrance. Leftover steel decking for roof and clean-out door. Moved the clean-out door for easier access. Hopefully coop/run is predator proof this time around.

That’s really nice. I know you didn’t ask for advice but you might consider replacing a bottom Section of chicken wire with hardware cloth and then fanning it outward horizontally in an apron for predator proofing. Chicken wire only keeps chickens in, not others out. I had a problem with my own dog breaking through the wire like a zipper. Raccoons did the same thing trying to get after spilled feed, which although this didn’t directly kill any birds, was a major annoyance. I replaced the bottom 4 feet with a 4 ft roll of hardware cloth and that was much better. You could be less worried about the chicken wire up top. I love your coop portion and the white paint makes it look clean and spacious. The fact that the nestbox opens to the outside is a nice touch.

What’s going on with the chicken entrance to the white coop? How will that open and close? Or is it always open?

Yes, but apron not needed as it appears to be on a concrete slab.

Is the roof sloped for water runoff?
Looks flat, but that may be an optical illusion.

Welcome to BYC! @gregorywsanders
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!
