sorry for the loss!

I don't know if this would work; but one of the contributors on here said he strung fishing line zig zagged across the top of his fence and it kept the hawks and owls out of his chicken pen. Would that work for your set up? Cheap and worth a try. . .

Get a spool of mason's line (nylon neon colors) at lowe's or Home Depot (about $5) and string it back and forth across the pen. Then use all those damaged or free CDs and hang them so they bounce and twirl and throw reflections around. Makes it near impossible for a hawk to dive and sometimes temporarily blinds him so he cant see to dive at all. I have a big hawk population here and never have lost a bird to one.

What does DNR stand for? I can certainly do the fishing line thing as I love to fish and have tons of the stuff. I'm smiling now because maybe I don't have to lose my chickens after all!

You guys rock!

Some people! I know how you feel. A year ago this past Christmas I had a hawk take my Quaker parrot we raised from a hatchling. Its devastating to say the least. How insensative of the idiot. To think that he just kept laughing, after seeing how furious you were.

. Let me tell you, I think I like my animals better than most people I know!

What really bothered me is that our daughters are best friends.

I hope that he'll think about what he said, but I'm not sure that he will. He's rather famous and talented; and he knows it. He's got a big head and can sit for hours googling himself and name-dropping constantly. If our daughters weren't such good friends, I'd bop him on the head.
