Hi last night one of my chickens was straining to get this out of her vent. Is it an egg sack? (it was a couple of inches long and was filled with what looks like egg white)

She is well today and fully back to normal.

Any help identifying this would be great and also If I should do anything in the future to prevent this.

    Thanks

Ummm. Gross. I'd be curious what it is too, as I'm pretty new to chickens. I'll watch your thread to see if anyone has any ideas. Good luck!

It may be a lash egg, which can be a product of salpingitis. She may benefit from antibiotics such as enrofloxacin or baytril. If you do a search at the top of this page for lash egg or salpingitis, you will find many threads to read.
