I personally know oil spill response technicians, trained and certified, who volunteered to work for free because they saw that booms are being used improperly, and they were turned down.

down here on the Mississippi gulf coast there is no military build up, I have heard mentioned that the national guard may be called up for clean up. I have heard nothing of evacuating. We have not gotten it as bad as Louisiana yet, but i'm sure it is coming. If it gets capped then we have all that oil coming from all the days it was blowing. I can't even watch the news much anymore, it makes my chest hurt.

This disaster is a result of man's demand for ever more material wealth and oil companies' shareholders' demands for the maximisation of profit. It's not the first oil leak and it won't be the last.

Here's another disaster. It involved human beings who were killed or maimed or who are descended from victims of what happened. None of them has been properly compensated by the company responsible for what happened. Please look at the links and agree with me that, much as we love and need animals, human beings must also be taken care of properly - whether in the US, Britain, India or anywhere else.

The United States spends too much money and resources helping out other countries... while their OWN people suffer.
Something wrong with that... IMO.

We live in a Crapsack World, sadly. Too many greedy people, too many lazy people, too many mean people, I could go on.

Why is it ONLY "Bad BP, Bad BP" when OUR government turned the help away!! BP didn't turn them away. We have had hundreds of workable ideas to stop the oil and to clean it up. But the ones who could have stopped days instead months later were ridiculed as crackpots by OUR GOVERNMENT.
When will WE as a NATION wake up to what is going on. The answer to this catastrophe is not to put thousands more out of work either. It was an accident compounded by incompetence on many fronts. Gratefully it appears they have it mostly stopped for now. Now lets see who gets in the way of cleanup.

Just makes you want to cry.

All those lives lost

and all the damage that will haunt us for generations, the corruption of something that was once pure and beautiful.

The gulf, and our country, both need urgent care and it's up to us citizens to see that it happens.
