This chick has an interesting pattern..

These are the two barred chicks today.

I don't think I've ever seen barred chicks quite like that before.

I see enough white bars that I am pretty sure they ARE barred, but I'm seeing a lot of not-barred sections on the feathers too, especially on the first one.

I have no idea what may be causing this, but I'm definitely going to be curious to see how they look as they continue to grow!

They were much more barred last week- as the feathers grew out they just stayed barred at the tips. So odd…

@NatJ this one is this chick

They visited outside today. They weren’t quite sure of it. 😂

They were very happy to get back to the brooder.

@NatJ I’m definitely seeing a beard on one of them. And you can still see some gold in the crossbeak chicken. They are 8.5 weeks old now. Still thinking cockerels?

I really don't know what to think about those chicks, especially since there is some uncertainty about what the parents really are.

Hopefully it will become clear as they continue to get older :)

I have a strong feeling they have the Easter egger genes because of the beard. I was told the australorp was the roo for sure, but I’m not so certain of anything. Turns out they both have crossbeak 😒 I didn’t notice it on the bearded one until today.
