This chick is 4 weeks old. Barnyard mix. Dad is brahma. Can anyone tell the sex?

So the father could be either a Light Brahma or a Buff Brahma? Here are the possibilities I see, given the hen breeds you already mentioned.

If the father is a Light Brahma, the mother is probably a White Leghorn but possibly a Buff Orpington.

If the father is a Buff Brahma, the mother must be a White Leghorn, not a Buff Orpington (2 buff parents would produce chicks with buff feathers, with or without black markings.)

So if you don't know which is the father, the mother is probably but not certainly a White Leghorn.

The mother cannot be a Brahma, because any combination of the available Brahma colors would give a chick with black markings.

Thank you! I lost all of my chickens except my brown leghorn hen. She went broody (which from what I understand is not common) so my sister gave me 10 fertilized eggs from her mix. I swapped them out and 9 out of 10 hatched. She only has 2 roosters. A buff and light brahma. Out of the eggs only one was white. Soo i have been playing a guessing game for weeks now. 😂

The mother can’t be a buff Orpington because an Orpington cross would have white legs.
