I had difficulty figuring out what I was given in my order, as I had only ordered 2 black sex link and ended up with 4 black day old chicks. They were all supposed to be pullets, but now I am noticing one of them has a bigger brighter comb. Do I indeed have a rooster?
I ordered them through TSC and all the black sex link look different now. On the website the 'New Hampshire X' are being described online as
'Females have a beautiful red comb on a jetblack body laced with brown on the neck and breast. ' so I had wondered if maybe my NH X were really 2 of the black sex links?
What really throws me off is that the hatchery's description of the cockeral black sex link as 'Males are a dark barred colour, similar to Barred Rocks ', which this one definitely does not have.
So confused.
This one chicken acts the same as all the other females, so I never really thought much about it until someone had come over and said 'I think you have a rooster'

What do you all think?

I should point out that 3 of the 4 black ones have that amount of brown on them, but all 4 I have to say look very different from each other. Only one is truly black..with greenish feathers on the back.

That is a hen. Black Sex Link roos look nothing like the hens(are not black with red lacing on breast). They look more like Barred Rocks.
