I think they often aren't sure if she's having a mad five minutes and best ignored, or demonstrating important chickening skills that they should be paying close attention to :lol:
 
Some ducklings have not died and the others are not sad. Mum is indifferent.

Failure to thrive. I had two that just never got bigger than bantam size. Chippy was smaller than my bantam cochin girls. She almost lived to two years old, so I felt blessed to have her that long. D'Barge is full sized and healthy. Of the other two that I had, Barbie was very small and lived around 18mo, Floppy Faye was a little larger and lived to be a little over two.
Sounds like you need a new breeder, those were not healthy.
 
A newly hatched bantam chick that mum rescued when she was helping a friend clear up their recently deceased sisters backyard...

'Elf' or 'Elsie' will have friends to sun bath with soon. I have pekin bantam eggs due to hatch Christmas day..
