This could get controversial: Trueblood VS Twilight

I have seen both and liked the Twilight books but hated the movies. Same with True Blood, loved the books hated the movie. I agree that the last book was very badly written with no real conflict. I am young enough to like Twilight and get why other girls like it and yet old enough to like the darkness of True Blood. If I had to choose between the two I would have to say True Blood mostly because the guy who plays Eric is sooo hot.

The Charlaine Harris books are FAR better than the Trueblood TV series, which Alan Ball decided to make into a sex-and-drug fest (a la the execrable Anita Blake books) that isn't a major theme in the books. Also, I gave up in Season 2 of Trueblood because I was tired of "Bill!" 'Soooooookie!" "Bill!" "Sooookie!"

What I liked about the Charlaine Harris books (and it's true I've only read about 4) is that there is some charm to the characters and locales and the characters are solidly lower-middle-class, as compared to say the Anne Rice books, where everyone is rich and oh so upper class. The TV series is totally lacking in that charm.

Twilight - haven't read the books, but I watched the first movie and barely made it through the second, with no intention of watching the third. The excerpts I've seen of Stephanie Meyers' writing does not lead me to want to read the books.

My favorite vampire books are Fred Saberhagen's Thorn series and Tanya Huff's Blood series.

i LOVED both book series, that being said, I am VERY disappointed in the Twilight movies, and I do enjoy the True Blood shows ALOT. I am counting down the hours until it starts tonight

Hi! I know it wasn't the original question, but thanks for the critiques! I've read the first 3 of the Harris books and they are entertaining light reading. Anyone that enjoyed those books might also enjoy Jim Butcher's Dresden Files.

edited to add: I was amazed when my neice and sister recommended I read the Twilight series... BECAUSE this same family was involved in a huge 'boycott' of the Harry Potter series of books/movies because of their church and beliefs.

edited again because I'm referring to the books and not what was made *from* the books.

Great review, WOW! I agree with you. I've never read the Trueblood books, but rented the 1st season of Trueblood through Netflix and couldn't watch them. I can't remember if I even finished the pilot. They were so graphic and violent and gross. I have no desire to watch it all, but I may read the books, especially if the first few were good.

I like Twilight series as a light, fun read. I definately like the wolves and I think Taylor Lautner is a great actor and he's a much better actor than Kristin and Robert. Bella and Edward were often painful to watch on the big screen. Alice and Bella do discuss her mind blocking powers (I think in the 3rd book) and she says Alice and Jasper's talents work on her future and emotions, not her mind, so she's safe in her own mind, but not what happens to her body.

I like both... But i like the true blood books a smidge better to the series.. because.. the series doesn't stick to the book at all really

Twilight books are better then the movies in some aspects.. but Robert and Kristen i dont think were the best choices to play Bella and Edward... Kristen Can not act at all.. and Robert as someone has already said looks like a pug someone spilled powder on..
