This has been worrying me for a while... MG & CRD experts needed

Thank you everyone for the info. Where can I get them tested for MG/CRD? Do they do it for NPIP testing?

NPIP normally doesn't test for MG/MS/CRD unless you ask them too.
You can call a state vet to get them tested.
I would mostly be alarmed if they showed more symptoms then sneezing, have gotten worse, or had it for a long period of time going away and coming back.
But the only way you will know is if you get them tested or necropsy-ed.
You can call your state vet to see if they will do the testing for you.

You should also look into worming if they haven't been wormed.
Ive heard worms can cause some symptoms like sneezing or rattled/gurgled breathing and be mistaken as CRD.
You can bring a stool sample to your vet and they will test for worms/parasites, only costs about $12.

Worms can weaken a chickens immune system to the point that makes them susceptable to viral, fungal, bacterial infections. Gapeworm can cause similar symptoms as you mentioned (gurling/rattling,) but gapeworm are rare in chickens. Most likely it's a respiratory disease they are dealing with.

Ya i think it is probably a respiratory disease too.

Its just so sad to see so many people getting that problem.
Mine didn't have the worms either but thought since some other people mentioned it, that it may be of some use to look into..

Thanks everyone for the replies. I guess the only thing I can do is get them tested. I will look into the worming. I worked at our local vet clinic for a little over a year, so I have connections. I will definitely talk to the breeder, too. And just an FYI - I am no longer giving them tetracycline. That was a preventative in case of any secondary infection. They have been off of it for almost 3 weeks now. They are acting completely normal and eating/drinking well too as if they were never sick in the first place.

I just got off the phone with the breeder. I asked him about MG and he said that he hasn't had a problem with it before and that they've been tested with NPIP.

Don't worry you didn't come off as rude. I asked him several times to make sure. It sounded as if he was confusing the Pullorum-Typoid test with MG, but I specifically said "Mycoplasma" and "MG" to him. Even though he said that they were tested I'm still a little skeptical anyways...

Hopefully you can get them tested for free, if you are interested in doing that. If not, I guess you could wait to see if the symptoms resurfaced later. If they do come back then you know you have carriers, or if other birds get symptoms as well. Did you say the new birds were added to the rest of the flock already? I posted today "my MS positive story" on here if you want to read what just happened to me. Sorry you are having to worry about a possible infection. It can be something that just invades your thoughts if you don't know for sure! I hope it all turns out well for you!
