this heat is killing me

Triple digit here too. The heat index is killer.

We haven't lost anything to the heat. I don't see my chickens much during the hot part of the day. They are down in the woods digging holes to stay cool! The horses are soaked every day though...in sweat.

We have a big pool so we are staying cool. I think I get in it for 20 min. at a time like 10 times a day. It is an instant cooler. The horses just walk up to the fence and beg to get in! LOL My mare LOVES to be in water.

I got 2 shipments of eggs last week and they were twice as hot as the ones in my bator...none developed either

I LOVE SUMMER though - compared to winter. I hate to be cold.

sorry about your critters

Just box up that heat and send it up here! My poor garden is chilled and drowning.

Sending cool thoughts your way

*sigh* I remember that lovely South Florida weather...spent 37 years living in it and I can only say "I AM GLAD I LIVE IN OREGON NOW"

I just lost almost my entire garden for the THIRD time this year...yesterday it never got above 67 degrees. But oddly enough, come late July/early August, we can and will have days at 100 - 101 degrees...thankfully they are not too mnay of them.

Use frozen bottle of water and hope fot the best...

It's been really hot here in Florida as well. We built our pens and coops under our Oak tree so they are 80% in the shade. I still get worried cause i have to fill their water 3 times a day. I am gonna try that frozen jug of water for their water. but i wonder if it's ok?? My husband ran track and always told be room temo when you get that hot.

Also considered a mister from Walmart for my goats~

Stay cool my friends:cool:

I am so sick of the heat... I go and chang my water for the ducks, chickens, goats and dogs several times a day... the water just gets so hot... I really wish we could get some good rain( i hate this drought we are in)

Same here in S. Florida. Its really hard to bear. Just stay inside is all you can do. My kids are always in the pool, and that helps too. Like Mahonri said, its going to be a L O N G 3 months. UGH!
