It’s only started in the last few weeks . This is why I thought it was a problem. She recently stopped laying as well . I thought it was a respiratory thing but she seems healthy . I hear her doing it at night too which I know isn’t normal .
I have a year-old hen that one day out of the blue crowed...twice! She's never done it since so I have no idea what triggered it. She's not the head hen and I have no rooster.
I was worried that she'd keep working at perfecting it but it's been about a month and she hasn't tried again that I know of.
I have hens that make unique noises that only they do. Their clucks and chicken chatter can differ in pitch and patterns. I think it's cute and adds to their different personalities! Some are very vocal while others are very quiet.
I don't think thats a crow or even an attempt. Thats just a goofy hen noise, a goofy hen noise on a loop but still lol! @coach723 is right, she will eventually stop buuuut she might pick a new noise she's older and much like us the older they get the more odd stuff gets said.
She doesn't appear to be physically uncomfortable. U said she's top hen? She might just be crowing
Is it just the noise bothering you or are there other symptoms that might lead to an issue?
My neighbors kids are annoyingly loud so we are cool there . Yes she’s the top hen she doesn’t really hang out much with them though . I am more worried about her health. I also feel she has lost weight . Maybe I’m being overly sensitive but she seems sick to me.
