This is a hen right?! 😂

Have you heard the bird in question make little cooing noises to the hens or tidbit them?

I'm not sure, I haven't been watching for that. I'll start watching now. I have seen her drop a wing though, like I've heard about with roosters courting, she's the only one I've seen do it. It seems like she does it almost everyday. However, I haven't watched for a long period of time to see whether or not she's dancing around them.

She drops a wing right in front of them? That’s pretty tell tale!

Well I'm not sure if it's the same as a rooster does it, I've never seen a rooster do it. Could she be stretching her wing? 😂 I've never seen her dance for them.

It looks like she fans it out real low, and then stretches her leg out.

Yeah I was watching videos, and it doesnt seem like what shes doing. Maybe she stretching. Cause it's real slow, and she doesnt usually try to mount after.

If that is a male.....there should be crowing by now.

I still say female.
I sent two cocks at 3 months to freezer camp for aggressive fighting and crowing. At 6 months 2 of my remaining 4 pullets started crowing. Some are late bloomers.
We also had a dominant female in charge of our in town flock. If there are no roosters a hen will take charge and act more masculine. I think it may be a pullet. I have an incredibly masculine hen (large comb and wattles, didn't start laying until 8 months) So anything is possible.

please tell me this is a hen LOL. I bought them from a store, probably a month ago now. 1 was laying when I got her, the other one started letting about two weeks ago. This specific "hen" is not laying yet. She goes in the nesting box every day, but doesn't lay anything. Today I caught her fighting and mounting my other hen. They probably are around six months, I think they have just started laying. This hen is the loudest, yelling in the morning, but not crowing. I just wanted to double-check that it is in fact a hen and not a young rooster. They're supposedly americana's, they have cheek Puffs and a beard. This one has a middle part on top of its head.
Yep she looks like a hen alright!
