This being a problem never even occured to me. My lil BR roo is managing to cut himself with his own nails. At first it was just little scratches on his toes. But this evening he managed to cut his comb where it attaches to one of his nostrils. Has anyone run into this problem before?

I'm guessing the best way to fix this is to just trim his nails. I've read some posts saying that it's basically the same as cutting dog nails, just don't cut the quick. Is that correct?

Thanks bunches!

That sounds correct. I have never clipped my chickens nails but it is the same principle with dogs. If you are worried you could just file them so they are so sharp.

I put a rock they could climb on in my brooder so they could naturally file them down during King of the Mountain games. I also have some cement blocks in the run and one in the coop for them to be able to flie their little nails and their beaks.

Makes it a little easier for me anyway that way!
