Here, there, and everywhere...
This is one of my Cuckoo Marans, "her" name was Betty, she is the top chick in my flock.. I'm pretty convinced it's a boy. It's the only one of my Marans to have a comb this size and wattles. No crowing yet though

She/he is my favorite maran

Jenna, I don't know much about marans but i would say you have a roo, I am sorry. If you have to get rid of it i hope you find a very nice home for it. Maybe you could find a home close so you could still see it. Best wishes.

How old is she? Her legs look dark and her barring is dark......I think she looks female. Ummm......may I ask, HOW do you tell the difference in a Cuckoo Marans and a Barred Rock? This girl looks like a Barred Rock to me (more perfect, neater barring)?

She/He is 7 weeks old today.

I'm not too sure how they tell the Barred Rocks from the Marans... It's just what I ordered lol I know they do look alot alike...

BUT I also have little Velveeta who was supposed to be a Buff Orpington and yet is the only one with BRIGHT orange legs and toes! So I'm guessing she is some type of mix?

I guess it's possible that this is a mix up and is a Barred Rock, what does that mean to me though? Do female Barred Rocks usually have larger combs?

The other thing is that this bird has much more white on it than the other Cuckoo Marans, they have the Barred Rock pattern to their feathers a little but no where near as pronounced and they are alot darker. As a matter of fact "Betty" is the only one I can tell apart...

Thanks for your help...
