i know this is kind of an easy question, but ive never had bantams, and the only people i know who have them are a couple from church, and ive only seen their chickens once or twice, but they have others mixed in their also. so....................how small are banty eggs? i hear and read that they are pretty small, but how small, the lady from church said they arent really that small, but on this forum i read that they are pretty small indeed.
could someone post pics of babty eggs so i could get an idea. i feel silly, ive had alot of chickens and thought i knew a few things, but ive never had bantys, and i guess im not as smart as i thought.

It depends on the size/breed of the banty but for the most part I would say about the size of a golf ball but of course with a more oval shape.

Depends on the breed.
Silkies are classified as banties but lay a decent-sized egg. 2 of them are more than a large egg.
My d'Uccles lay a smaller egg. Probably takes 3 to equal a normal large egg.

I can not get a good picture right now but they are smaller than the store bought small ones and bigger than quail! I have a picture on another post. But it doesn't show them compared to a regular sized egg!

A large egg weighs 2 oz. Our cochin bantam eggs are usually about 1.25–1.4 oz. I usually use 3 bantams to equal 2 large eggs.

Peewee 15 oz per doz or 1.25 oz per egg
Small 18 oz per doz or 1.5 oz per egg
Medium 21 oz per doz or 1.75 oz per egg
Large 24 oz per doz or 2 oz per egg
X Large 27 oz per doz or 2.25 oz per egg
Jumbo 30 oz per doz or 2.5 oz per egg

I use 2 banty eggs for 1 large egg. Here's a few pictures of some of my eggs:

1. Large green egg
2. Teeny, tiny Serama banty egg
3. Large brown egg
4. Normal Bantum egg (from a Silkie or OEGB)
5. Jumbo sized white egg

Would the Serma Banty be the smallest chicken? What is THE smallest chicken in the US?

Thanks and God Bless!
