This is agonizing

That's it exactly. I do have water in the legs as they instructed. But since I have two other eggs in there too, I have still been opening it up twice a day to roll them.

Since loosening the shell, the chick seems to be moving more. Perhaps it is encouraged by the movement of the shell end.

You need to boost that humidity with the warm sponge, your dome will get real watery but thats fine untill it hatches,I am suprised that you had a hatch in that,I use it when the broody leaves the nest and I can see that some are still trying to hatch or just have a couple days to go.I did give it a friend with some fertile eggs and she had zero hatch with it.If your eggs were all put in at the same time you need to stop turning them three days before hatch and boost your humidity with the sponge as the filling the legs is not enough.

Yes, I was surprised that even one egg is viable. I had some temperature fluctuations that I thought would have done them in. I'll try the warm sponge idea. Thanks.

Update: The chick is still moving pretty vigorously.

Hope the chick makes it,When I put the sponge in I soaked it with very warm water and squeezed it out then put it in,if you don`t have a sponge use a paper towel with very warm water and squeeze out the eccess water and put it in.

Thanks for all the support and advise. As it turned out, I helped it very little, but I did help it. I cracked the shell connecting the three holes but tried not to mess with the membrane. I did remove one of the eggs from the incubator and repositioned the hatchling. And I did loosen the shell a little. But the poor thing did most of the work itself.

It has so much energy that it almost knocked the lid off the little incubator a couple of times.
It's now in it's cardboard box with a light bulb.

I know that you all have probably seen as many videos of hatching chickens as you ever want to but when I get this one edited and uploaded I'll post it here.

Thanks again.
