from the bit that I see it looks like a big healthy vein. Normally if dead you wouldn't see veins or they would be really faint. Was the chick moving? sometimes at day 18 it can be hard to see so may have to check a couple times over the course of a day in order to be able to see the little wiggles since they are taking up a lot of the egg at that time.
No no movement but the only time I checked was when I took the picture I didnt want to mess with it for a long time for obvious reasons (I think) butI can't tell from that picture. Do you see movement in the egg? On day 18 you should be seeing movement.
If you suspected one was dead, is there a good reason to pull it out?
I usually leave all suspect eggs in unless they leak or stink.

If not pipped you can candle just try to keep it in the same position as lockdown and not jostle it around much, but you can look and try to see movement.No no movement but the only time I checked was when I took the picture I didnt want to mess with it for a long time for obvious reasons (I think) but
