This morning I went out to check on my garden and chickens and found a somewhat surprising egg in the nest. I have eight hens and there were seven eggs in the nest. The surprise was that there was a tiny egg the size of a quail egg. I have never seen full grown chickens lay an egg this size before.

BTW, I usually have one white egg daily so, I guess that hen hadn't layed her egg yet. Should be there tonight when I get home.

Looks like a Welsumer egg. Do you have a young Welsumer who is just starting to lay? Or maybe a bantum? That's a bantum-sized egg.

It's a Fart Egg, something that I just learned about...

They're all one year old and I have no Welsumer or batams. I'll be watching for more now.

WEll, everything's back to normal. Eight hens and yesterday evening I picked up eight nic eggs.
