We live about a mile outside of the closest town. This lovely lady (?) appeared at our house a few days ago. We don't have any close neighbors and no distant neighbors that I know of that are raising pheasant. It's only flown a few feet one time and doesn't walk off until we get about 25 feet away. Am I correct that this is a ring-necked pheasant hen? Is it possible she was from a domesticated flock and came a long ways to get here? Should we try to discourage it to leave? We know not to put her in with the hens, but she does get up close to the woven-wire fence around the chicken yard. Will we be in trouble if she is found hanging out at our place? Thanks for any and all input!

Yes, that's a ringneck pheasant hen. Either escaped or survivor of a semi wild hunt. Her hanging out freely at your place will cause no trouble with fish and wildlife.
Thank you for responding to my post. We enjoy watching her and it took us several days to get a picture of her.
