This is Minnesota

yep...it takes five Jersey Giant roosters or two Emden ganders to bring down a mosquito around here...the upside being I don't have to feed them for three days while they work big bug down...

I just got off the phone with friend in Minnesota.

He said that since early yesterday morning the snow has piled up nearly waist high and is still falling. The temperature is dropping below zero and the north wind is increasing. His wife has done nothing but look through the kitchen window. He says that if it gets much worse, he may have to let her in.

I talk to my sister in Mpls daily and it has been miserable...they were witnesses to the collapse of the dome, again...we jokingly refer to it as the Metrodish not the Metrodome...they had a devil of a time to get that thing to rise and shine at it's inception...been an odd year...haven't heard much from Al...suppose he is snowed in somewhere? I keep sending her pics of Fl but they wont budge...wish they would move S. None of us is getting any younger and that snow shoveling and 25 layers of clothing has to be getting old...

I got that in an email a couple of days ago and this post just seemed like the perfect opportunity to use it.

Just north of me in the snow belt. (We only get about 100 inches a year) They have a big lake effect storm coming in.. 3 inches an hour! Know that is what you need to get 300 inch snow fall in a season..

The chickens are holed up anyway, with any amount of snow......So let it snow!
However, me and the chickens can do without those -40 Minnesota temps..
