This is my Pecker

Pecker was injured as a chick, I've grown very fond of her but her sisters still want to beat her up. I think her long upper beak prevents her from protecting herself, and I want to trim it a bit. Please give me suggestions and advice; I don't want to hurt her if I can help it. She is only 2.6 pounds and her sisters are almost 5. They were all born middle of March. She's very picky about what she eats, won't eat worms or much fruit but she loves yoghurt.
Pecker and her sister Big Nellie are Cochins.

I had a pullet with a similar beak problem. Her upper beak was growing more than the rest of her, so we took a nail file and filed it down just a bit. Be careful, though, because there are veins in the beak. Soon her body was proportional again and she's fine as of today.

I would definitely suggest filing it down. It can also cause eating difficulty if it's too long.

My daughter has a lot of practice cutting her Chihuahua's nails and the right tools; she helped me cut and file about 3/8ths of an inch off. Pecker was very still, like she knew it would help her. We could see the dark part we didn't want to cut, didn't get very close. I will file some more off after a few days, until either she fights me or it looks right as possible.

I have one with a funny beak and she like it when I give her a deep bowl food... guess it's easier for her to eat that way.
