Gosh, that looks WONDERFUL! What a difference for that sweet hen! So happy for her and so glad you went the extra mile to help her...kudos to you!!

Pecker is still growing larger, mostly feathers. She is up to 2.6 pounds, (while her sisters are over 5.) She isn't very active and hyper like the other birds. She moves around slowly, but can run just fine now, when she wants to.

She loves yoghurt. I managed to slip her a little cooked hamburger by burying it in yoghurt yesterday. She left a few small pieces in the bowl though. She wouldn't eat bugs or meat I've tried to give her in the past...

Pecker's beak is normal now, she smoothes it on bricks and stepping stones like the other girls. It's funny that they get yoghurt all over their faces, then go wipe their beaks or shake it all over. I hope she can lay eggs, but she's still half the weight of the other hens.

Pecker's still with me. Her eggs shells have been very thin, often cracked or opened at the end, but she's been a trooper and keeps laying. The heat is really getting to the hens, and there's not much she likes better than a hole in damp dirt in the shade.

haha Just saw this. Funny, but for the first time I have a chicken that needs a beak trim and I was looking how to do it! Looks easy.

If the eggs shells are thin, make sure she is getting some oyster shell. If an egg breaks inside her, it can cause problems.

Yeah, I thought it was funny at the time.
Clipping her beak was easier than I had thought it would be. Once it was trimmed it became as normal as the others.

They always have oyster shell, and I feed some of their egg shells back to them, too.

Pecker is kind of weird. She loves yoghurt, but if I give her too much her eggs are covered with stalagmites. She doesn't go crazy for bugs and meat like the others do. A few days ago I offered her a garden worm. She looked at it, then looked at me as if to say "That's disgusting." and walked away. The others will fight over worms. She's the only picky eater chicken I've ever seen.
