This is not going very well...any ideas?

You could try picking up one of the BR's and plopping them down in with the littler ones. Sometimes just splitting them from their buddy and taking them out of their spot is enough to calm down the pecking. Maybe put a treat in at the same time, something scattered across the brooder.

BR are one of my favorite breeds, they have so much personality. Just be sure to handle them a lot as chicks, they go through a really skittish phase and then come around into confident, curious, and sweet chickens.

That's about it! LOL I recently went to a local farm for some ice cream with the family and they had a flock of GLW. They were friendly and just beautiful! I think my BO would be at the end of my drive flagging a ride down if I put anyone else in with them right now.

Funny about those chicks. I bought a BR from a store and two bantys from a farm on the very same day. The BR was about a week older - but all three were introduced to my brooder (cardboard box in my garage) at the same time. Every single night (even thought the thermometer said 85 or 90) the little bantys would be missing. I would frantically look around to find both bantams under the winds of the BR. SO sweet. She is like their mama. It is so cute. These are my first chickens - so maybe that is totally expected - but it was sweet for me to see. Sadly now - one of the bantams is a boy and I must exchange it for a girl - a girl that was just hatched. Hummmm. I am a little nervous abut introducing a new chick. But the BR was so nurturing the first time - maybe it will happen again.

I have 2 BR, 2 BO, and 2 EE that are about two and a half weeks old. I just moved them to a larger brooder and the EE is spreading her wings and flying toward all the others (I'm assuming to express her dominance). On the other hand the BR have been the most ready to fly out at any chance they get and the ones that would squawk the most. They are the least favorite because they just don't seem to want to settle down with handling.
I'm supposed to be getting 2 Bovan Browns from our feed store in about 3 weeks. I don't know when or how to introduce mine either! I'm new to all of this. I'm wondering if I should just cancel my feed store order and be happy with my six.
