We did used to say "mean old biddy" sometimes, but generally, when someone said "biddy" we thought of a tiny chick.

Now I guess I usually call them chicks because everyone else does. Sometimes I slip and say "biddy" though.

Same here, my Grandma was a 'mean ole biddy', but she always had 'hens and biddies' running around the barnyard, lol.
I guess it's about context

My Grandma is still an ole biddy and I raise biddies / chicks --- but not dibbies.
