This is the "exotic"chick the hatchery gave me...what is it?

Mcmurray hatchery included a free "exotic" chick with my order. any ideas what kind it is and boy or girl?

Your exotic chick appears to he a Production Red.

It is too young (I'm guessing 6-7 weeks old) to say for sure but I'd guess it is a pullet.

I can't find that on their website. Is it a real breed?

They're called Red Stars or Red Sex Links. Congratulations - many of the packing peanuts turn out to be roosters. You have an excellent laying pullet.

Wonderful...glad it is a girl. Loves to be held. She belongs to my 6 year old who is afraid of roosters since the BR went after her a few months ago.

I think it's a RIR, not a Sexlink/Red Star/Production Red ect.
It's just way to dark of a red IMO

She looks like my Production red pullets but mine have grey legs. HMMMM, wonder what they really are?

OOPS ... I was just checking on the girls and my red pros do have yellow legs. It's my black same age girls that have the grey legs.
