This is the kind of town I live in, what a crock

I think Sanford has something against any thing with feathers. Alex might lose her girls tomorrow and now there killing geese. This town is pathetic.

So you're pretty burned up over this, I take it? Same thing might happen here, where I live.

I think they could have found homes for at least some of them just by putting out the word. But, in the end, private golf course = their privelege.
What chaps my thighs is our tax money had to be wasted hauling in a 'federal agency' to do the deed.

This is the same town that is fighting the woman over her chickens - the one we signed petitions for? They do seem to have something against birds...

Hey Dave, yes I'm burned up over this and yes it is the same town with the same hicks that hate anything that goes against their way of thinking.

That's interesting.

They could have just shot the critters and let someone eat them. They could have rounded them up and allowed someone to come get them. What about the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue?

I would have come and picked up at least some of the geese. I have an empty pond and an empty freezer.

I just find it hard they gassed them and then threw them away. What a waste.

I'm sorry that things are so rough right now.

Whether to challenge poor leadership or just to wash your hands of it all and move is a hard question sometimes in a case like this but, ultimately, local governments either change to meet the needs of their communities or the communities disperse/die.

That's not really of any comfort, I realize, but maybe it's helpful to see this current problem as part of a larger process. There are towns that value the importance of wholesome accessible food and humane treatment of animals (AND the basic concept of property rights!) and those are towns that are certainly worth living in!

You have my support, whatever you choose to do (short of putting a flaming bag of chicken poop on the mayor's doorstep). Heh. Okay, you have my support for that, too!

Please keep us posted with any new developments there.

What's goin' on up there, ncountrygirl. I mean, CARY is allowing chickens. CARY, the hoity toity kingdom of nc. Does Sanford know that? If you can have chickens in CARY, you should be able to have them anywhere. Of course, they'll probably only allow designer chickens...LOL

I saw that on the news and when they said Sanford I wanted to scream. Does that place have a feather problem?

Anything new with them changing the chicken rules? Cary allows them but Sanford doesnt, that confuses me.
