This just can't end well...

I will put $50 on the chicken! Hehehehehe my taco bell beast has been on the receiving end of that situation also. Great pic and beautiful bird.

Thanks, y'all! Robin is my prettiest EE. She's also ferocious. The cats would be wise to be ware!

Dodger did get his little kitty head pecked and not for the last time, I'm sure. He just MUST play with the chickens no matter how many times they bonk him on the head. Isn't that just like life? We persist with trouble despite the head bonkings. I'm sure there's a moral in there somewhere.

Here's Dodger under less traumatic circumstances-

Could I borrow Robin please. Pretty pahleezeeeeeeee??
I so want my chickens to kick Killer Kittys' butt so she doesn't have to stay in the house while they are out. I keep telling the chooks you outweigh her by double! Just kick her butt! Alas, they won't listen.

Very cute pics. Thanks for sharing.

Nope. I'm not sharing the fabulous Robin.

If she ever starts laying I'll send you some of her eggs if you like. They'd be EE x buff orp. Daddy is Cheeto the Humungo Rooster.

I think part of it is that while she is by nature pretty tough, the cats showed up as 12 week old kittens. The kittens lived in the coop with everyone for the first couple of months. Once I got them fixed and rabies protected they've been able to free range during the day. They still sleep in the banty coop at night. So far it seems to be a good working relationship. Dodger likes to annoy the silkies, but they are REALLY fast at the head bonking.

Newchickenfamily- His full name is The Artful Dodger. He very much is a dodgy kind of kitten.

My cats and chickens took dustbaths together. The chickens would dig deep pits in the flower garden, and the cats would just lay there nearby, sunning themselves while laying in the dirt. It was hilarious.
