By the time, I get kids dressed, fed, lunches done, their hair done.. oh and Animals feed watered...

I"m on my way to work.. long drive on a big 4 lane highway with no traffic...

I eat my sandwich, and brush my hair.. That's provided it day light and roads are in good condition.

Would never apply make up, or read, or anything else...

And I wouldn't do it in town, or the city.. Cause I got to watch for all those dang, crazey city drivers..

One time I saw someone putting on make-up while stopped at a light.

My girlfriend and I were on our way to a bird show.

We were beside him (yes it was an old man) and he was putting make-up on his face like there was no tomorrow.

I could even see the brand of make-up..."Covergirl".

I don't use much in the way of makeup, but I have been known to put some on at traffic lights. It doesn't help that there is only one light in the 15 miles between my little town and the next town. So I just don't get much on.

But one of the things I have observed is that just about anyone can get a drivers license, and I have met a few that didn't have license and are driving anyway. It is true that most people get away with doing all sorts of things, without anything bad happening. I think that helps them justify their lack of attention to the road. There is also a degree of boredom that happens when driving the same route everyday. The boredom then ends up with a distracted driver.

That doesn't justify the distractions, but it may explain it. I have realized that most people are not nearly as good at driving as they think they are. But driving seems to take less expertise than most of us would prefer of other drivers on the road.

I am still baffled at how a person can be driving down a road on roll a car, or how someone runs into the back of a police car that is stopped on the side of the freeway. I see the videos of those type of accidents way more often than I should have to.

But I also believe that if a driver kills someone while driving drunk or impaired, that they should be charge with first degree murder. After all we all know that we shouldn't be driving impaired.

And all cell phones have done is add to the distraction.

My husband and I saw a man driving while eating Chinese food-with chopsticks! Hubby is an emt/firefighter and sees way too many fatal accidents. Being a defensive driver is enough to keep me busy-I don't have time to eat, put on make up, text, read, talk on the phone, etc. I'm too busy avoiding everyone else that is otherwise occupied.

This summer I saw a woman texting while riding a motorcycle!!! She wasn't looking at the road, didn't have a helmet or pants on, and was leaning back with one hand on the handle bars!!! I had a hard time understanding how she could be so inconsiderate to all the other drivers

Maybe she doesn't have kids yet and is trying to improve the gene pool rather than being inconsiderate.
