This just makes me sick!

Call your insurance agent and tell him you want a policy on your house. The caveat is that you don't want to have to pay a premium until the house burns down. Let us know what the policy will cost.

Chickened, perhaps this is a better conparison for businees and reputation.

You have a valued customer who is happy to pay $75 for your widgets. You provide excellent widgets and he tells everyone who asks that the best widgets come from chickend.
One day he is talking about how he just ordered widget. The friend tells him"oh I agree, I always get my widgets there. But if you go on Tuesday the widgets are free." Now is your customer still going to be happy with your service? Or is he going to feel that you cheated him all these years?
Even more, is he going to buy $75 widgets? Or is he going to go on Tuesday when they are free?

There is a principal in donating "do not let the right hand see what the left hand is doing" Research that one. I understand what you are saying and in my business I can choose who to work for and I do not usually choose the cheap skates or if I do I know it going in and "HOPE" for the best. Would it be OK to show up on a job and do a crappy job because you are paying me less than the last guy?

Look at it this way, if the home was a 5000 sq,ft house that had a fire in one room and could be put out would it be right of the fire dept to let er burn? for 75.00
if that is so then what we have is class warfare because it was a singlewide trailer. As I recall the other incident involved a trrailer as well. I would be curious to see the incident reports for the last ten years on how many services were done on non-citizens and those that did not pay. Most likely the house was not worth saving and that may have been the reason, who knows. Ihope I never have an accident in that district passing through I may not get help.

I would think the progressive liberals would like to help those that cannot pay you know reward for nothing and all.

Our fire department does more than just put out fires.

We know, and check on some elderly people who live alone with medical issues.
(we'll even cut the grass for a few elderly in our town)

We provide-and pay for- the fourth of July fireworks. (and shoot them off)

We go to the schools to introduce ourself to children, explain fire safety.

We take part in various parades.

Halloween trick ot treat...we provide the safety.

We provide as many gift baskets as we can for Christmas.

We assist in traffic accidents as needed.

We assembled the new playground equipment a few years ago.

We plow the snow in town. (driveways on request) We'll even plow your
garden in the spring. (in the village)

We provide and install smoke alarms for our community when we can.

Dave, a member who is also a builder, will check your wood burner.

We provide the cones and lay out the course for new teenage drivers to practice
behind the old school when asked.

I feel that as individuals and as a group, we have the respect of the people we serve.

The point I'm trying to make is that as a small fire department we do so
much more than just ride around putting out fires. And we do it all for free.
Yes, we have a few fund raisers during the year. And every single dollar
goes right back into the fire department providing a service to the town.

Spook
