This makes me so mad!

how does anyone confuse a snow goose to a swan? snow geese are smaller then Canada geese and there small compared to a swan.

i mean how does some one pass the hunter safety exam and do that. (before i rant to much it is mandatory for you guys down there right? its like a 1 day/online class here and its mandatory along with fire arm safety in order to hunt)

as a hunter this just makes no sense.

Do you have to correctly identify all forms of waterfowl in your one day hunter safety course? I highly doubt it. All states have their own regulations regarding when you were born and whether or not you need a hunter ed class. 90% of the age groups hunting today are required to complete them. They are geared far more to safety over wildlife ID.

And that's too bad... The birds cost the state aka Iowa taxpayers. Hopefully they'll be able to replace the birds with the imposed fines. We see them around usually once a year and it's always amazing.

nope we don't have to identify all waterfowl just the protected ones where i live (whopping cranes and swans pretty much) and yes there is a chapter (in my provincial hunters safety book) telling you the differences between game animals and non-game animals such as woodland caribou vs elk, white tail deer and mule deer. so one would not confuse the protected woodland caribou to an elk or shoot a mule deer when white tail hunting or a white tail while mule deer hunting.

but i thought migratory birds fell under federal law and the regulations then fall under each fly way (as its like that here in canada)

and last point to mention is are hunter safety is much more geared towards survival, wild life identification and regulations/hunter ethics. as most of the fire arm safety/gun safety is dealt with our fire arm course.
